Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour 3 Days Itinerary

We’ll pick you up from your hotel or riad at 8:30 a.m. to begin our journey. We cross the High Atlas Mountains at the Tichka pass and take a side road to the Telouet Kasbah, the historic seat of the Glaoui family. While the Kasbah is currently closed, we can still appreciate its impressive exterior and learn its history.

From there, we drive through the scenic Ounila Valley, known for its colorful soil and Berber villages. We’ll arrive at Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in time for lunch. This is the most famous Kasbah in Morocco.

The road continues past Ouarzazate to the Skoura Oasis, where you will visit the beautifully restored Kasbah Amredhil, once featured on the 50-dirham banknote. We then pass through Kela’a M’gouna, the Valley of Roses, before reaching the Dades Valley for the night.

After breakfast, our 3 days tour from Marrakech to Fes continues with a drive up to the stunning Dades Gorges. We’ll then head to the Toudgha Gorges, which are much higher and offer a different kind of geological beauty.

We drive on through the Ziz Valley, a massive oasis famous for its palm trees. We’ll pass through Erfoud, a town known for its fossil discoveries, and Rissani, the origin of the current royal family.

In the afternoon, you will meet your camel for a ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes. We’ll arrive at your luxury desert camp, where you’ll be welcomed with tea. You can climb a nearby dune to watch the sunset over the Sahara. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp, complete with a private bathroom.

After breakfast at the camp, we begin our journey north. We’ll pass back through Erfoud, where we can stop to see how local fossils are crafted into furniture and artifacts. The road leads to Er Rachidia and through the vast Ziz Valley again.

Lunch will be in Midelt, known as “the apple capital,” located in the Middle Atlas Mountains. We then cross the Tizi-n-Talremt pass and drive to Azrou. Here, we’ll stop in the cedar forests to see the wild Barbary apes.

We’ll reach Fes by the end of the afternoon. Your driver will drop you off at your riad, marking the end of your 3-day desert tour from Marrakech.
