Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour 4 Days Itinerary

Our 4 days trip from Marrakech to Fes begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech. We will drive through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka pass, where you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.

Our first major stop will be the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a fortified village and a UNESCO World Heritage site. After exploring the kasbah, we will continue our journey to the Dades Gorges, passing through Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses. We’ll also visit the unique “monkey toes” rock formations before settling in for the night.

After breakfast, we will drive along the Todra River to the Todra Gorges, where you can take a walk and admire the towering canyon walls. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit a traditional Berber shop to see local crafts.

From there, we will continue to the Sahara desert. Once we arrive in Merzouga, we will start our camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will witness a beautiful desert sunset and have the chance to try sandboarding before enjoying a traditional dinner and spending the night in a luxury desert camp.

We will wake you up early to watch the sunrise from the top of the dunes, a truly magical experience. After breakfast, we’ll explore the desert area by 4×4.

We will visit a Berber nomad family to learn about their way of life and explore Mefis, a deserted village with a rich history. We’ll also visit Khamlia, a village known for its Gnawa music, and the Lake of Birds, if it’s full. You will have the choice to spend the night at a Riad in Merzouga or back at the desert camp.

On our last day, we will leave the desert and head towards Fes. Our journey will take us through the Ziz Valley, where we will stop for a panoramic view of the palm groves.

We will have lunch in Midelt, a town known for its apple production. Afterward, we will continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains and stop in the cedar forest to see the Barbary apes. Our final stop will be in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” before we drop you off at your accommodation in Fes.
