Marrakech Desert Tours 3 Days Itinerary
-
Day 1: Marrakech → Ait Benhaddou → Ouarzazate → Dades Valley
Our journey begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech. We start our 3 Days Trip Marrakech to Merzouga by driving over the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the dramatic Tizi-n-Tichka pass at 2260m, which offers impressive views.
Our first major stop is the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. You will have time to explore this fortified village, a famous UNESCO site that has been used as a backdrop for many films.
We continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert.” From there, we drive through the Skoura oasis and the Valley of Roses, finally arriving in the Dades Valley. We will have dinner and spend the night at a local hotel here.
-
Day 2: Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Erfoud → Merzouga
After breakfast, we’ll drive to the nearby Todra Gorges. You will have time to walk along the river between the massive 300-meter-high canyon walls, a popular spot for rock climbers.
We will continue our journey towards the desert, passing through Tinjdad and Erfoud. Erfoud is the region’s fossil capital, and we can stop at a workshop to see how they are processed.
Upon arrival in Merzouga, we’ll meet your camels. You will ride for about an hour into the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the beautiful sunset. You’ll spend the night at our desert camp, enjoying a traditional dinner and music under the stars.
-
Day 3: Merzouga → Draa Valley → Marrakech
We recommend waking up early to see the incredible sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you will ride your camel back to the village of Merzouga to meet your driver.
We begin the drive back to Marrakech, taking a different route. We will pass through Rissani and the vast Draa Valley, which is home to the longest river in Morocco and is lined with thousands of palm trees.
We will make a stop in Agdz and Ouarzazate for a break or a photo at the Taourirt Kasbah. We then cross the High Atlas Mountains one last time, arriving back in Marrakech in the early evening, where we will drop you off at your hotel.
