Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour 3 Days itinerary
-
Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Ziz Valley → Merzouga Desert
Your 3 days tour from Fes to Marrakech begins after breakfast. We will pick you up from your accommodation and start our drive toward the Sahara desert. Our first stop is Ifrane, a unique town often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture.
We continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, pausing in the cedar forests to see the wild Barbary macaques. As we drive on, you’ll notice the landscape change as we approach the Ziz Valley, where we’ll stop for a panoramic view of its vast palm grove.
In the late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga. Here, you will trade your vehicle for a camel and begin your trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. We will stop to watch a beautiful sunset from the top of a high dune before proceeding to your luxury desert camp for a night of traditional music, food, and stargazing.
-
Day 2: Merzouga Desert → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley
We highly recommend waking up early to see the peaceful sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, you will have the choice to return to Merzouga town by camel or in a 4×4 vehicle.
We then drive to Boumalne Dades.
Along the way, we’ll pass through Rissani; if it’s a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, you can explore its authentic traditional market. Our journey continues to Tinghir, where you can take a walk along the Todra River, under the impressive 300-meter-high cliffs of the Todra Gorge.
In the afternoon, we reach the Dades Valley. Before checking into your hotel, we will drive to a scenic spot to view the unique “monkey fingers” rock formations. You will spend the night in a comfortable hotel in the Dades Valley.
-
Day 3: Dades Valley → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech
Today marks the final day of your tour. After breakfast, we drive toward Ouarzazate, passing through the picturesque Valley of Roses. In Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” you’ll have the option to visit the Atlas Film Studios.
Just a short drive away is the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This fortified village has been the backdrop for many films and TV shows, including “Gladiator” and “Game of Thrones.”
After visiting the Kasbah and having lunch, we continue our journey to Marrakech. This final leg of our trip takes us through the majestic High Atlas Mountains and over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, which sits at 2260 meters. We will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation.
