Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour 4 Days itinerary

We will begin your tour by picking you up from your accommodation in Fes. Our journey heads south, with a brief stop in Ifrane, a town known for its alpine-style architecture and nearby ski resorts.

Next, we travel to the cedar forest of Azrou, where you can see the native Barbary monkeys. We will continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing Midelt, and follow the scenic Ziz Valley, a vast oasis of palm trees. In the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, where you will check into your riad at the edge of the dunes.

After breakfast, we will explore the desert area around Merzouga. Our first stop is Khamlia, a village inhabited by people originally from south of the Sahara, where you will listen to traditional Gnawa music.

We will then drive off-road to visit M’Fis, an abandoned mining village. You will also have the chance to sit for tea with a nomadic family and learn about their way of life.

In the afternoon, you will ride a camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes to our desert camp. We’ll stop to watch the sunset from a high dune before enjoying dinner and local music around a campfire.

We recommend waking up early to see the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, our 4-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour continues. We travel to Rissani, where you can visit the local market if it’s a market day (Sun, Tue, Thu).

We then drive through Erfoud and Tinghir to reach the Todra Gorge. This massive canyon, carved by the Todra River, is a spectacular sight for a short walk. From there, we proceed to the Dades Valley, driving into the Dades Gorge to your hotel for the night.

Following breakfast, we’ll drive along the “Road of 1000 Kasbahs” toward Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa.” You can stop for photos at the Atlas Studios.

Our main stop is the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage site featured in many films. After lunch, we begin our final drive to Marrakech.

This route takes us over the Tizi n’Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains, offering impressive views. We will drop you off at your accommodation in Marrakech in the evening.
